Poetry Workshop

Free outdoor art workshops will be open to the community the week of June 13th.  Workshops will take place near the Land O’ Lakes Community Park Pavilion and Walking Trail (located behind the Northern Waters Museum) and are geared for all ages. (Please note ages 7 – 10 need to be accompanied by an adult.) They will be led by Composer JG Everest from the Twin Cities with help from local naturalists and artists. All workshops will tie into a free, interactive outdoor exhibit called the LOLA Sound Garden, which will be open to the public on June 18, 20, and 21. This exhibit will be located in the same place as the workshops and will include artwork from the workshops and artwork from the students in Watersmeet schools, SOAR MS Charter School, and LOLA Homeschool students.

Sound Garden Poetry Workshop- Wednesday, June 15, 2022  (9 AM – 12 PM)  Free. 

After a short guided nature walk and history talk, poet Adrienne Wallner shares her creative approach and the role of nature in her writing process, before opening up the workshop for participants to find a favorite spot and experiment with their own writing and reflection, right there in nature. Open to all ages and abilities. One piece of creative writing from each participant done in the workshop will be printed and displayed in the LOLA Sound Garden. Bring your own notebook, writing tool, and, a chair or blanket to sit on. 

• LOLA Arts has lifted its mask requirement for in-person events and classes effective May 23rd, 2022.  LOLA visitors and students who want to wear a mask are more than welcome to do so. Moving forward, any mask or COVID-19 precaution policies or changes to current policies will align with the CDC recommendations based on COVID-19 community levels.
