Creative Aspects of Theater
Wednesdays 12 – 2:30pm
It’s more than acting!
There are many aspects involved in putting on a play. Theater Teaching Intern Mary Sportiello has put together 7 individual classes that dive into aspects such as prop making, scene design, and lighting to name a few. Explore one or two options or take all 7!

Painting line drawings
Would you like to learn some basics of coloring renders? Together we will learn the basics of painting some line renderings.
July 6th, 12 – 2:30pm
Lion King Experience
It’s the Circle of Life. We have a new group of theater students to learn a group of Lion King Activities.
July 13th, 12 – 2:30pm
Playwriting
Together we will write a script together for a scene of your play whether it’s your first play or your next one.
July 20th, 12 – 2:30pm
Lighting
Lighting with Watercolors, students will see images and create a lighting look accordingly.
July 27th, 12 – 2:30pm
Scenic Design
Have you ever wanted to design a set to tell your story? Well, your challenge is to create a set using an 8’x8′ platform as your playing space.
Aug 3rd, 12 – 2:30pm
Script Analysis
Looking at a script and learn how to break it apart into important parts, students will learn the basics of script analysis
Aug 10th, 12 – 2:30pm
Props
Students will learn how to make aged paper and another prop fromThe Lion King.
Mary Sportiello is about to start her last semester at UW- Whitewater where she is pursuing a BFA in Design and Technology with an Emphasis in Technical Direction. She has been working with theatre students since high school. Mary believes theatre, through the art of story telling, teaches lessons on how to become better people;starting young is important. Join us as we discover the world’s stories together!

- LOLA Arts has lifted its mask requirement for in-person events and classes effective May 23rd, 2022. LOLA visitors and students who want to wear a mask are more than welcome to do so. Moving forward, any mask or COVID-19 precaution policies or changes to current policies will align with the CDC recommendations based on COVID-19 community levels.
- Refund Policy – No refunds will be given after the registration deadline. Classes will only be cancelled due to weather if Northland Pines School district cancels.
