LOLA announces 2024 Winter Programming

Community through Creating; Folk to Fine Art

LOLA is so pleased to bring to the Northwoods their winter programming for 2024. Embrace the coziness of the season and create art AND community; take classes, attend events, or work collaboratively on a community art project, with programming January through April. Classes range in folk to fine art, including Spoon Carving and Sourdough Bread Making, and painting in watercolor, acrylic, and oil. See website for complete list of available classes. They also have a variety of Community Arts Events, which are free and open to the public, and celebrate the arts, along with a community collaborative weaving which will be worked on over the entirety of winter.

Events include two Open Mics with Bret Miller, one Thursday Jan 18th, and the other Thursday February 15th, with a potluck at 5:30pm and music from 6-8pm. Instruments available to borrow if needed, or bring own. Just audience members are also welcomed. Local poet Adrienne S. Wallner will host a Poetry Open Mic on Thursday April 18th, also potluck at 5:30pm and poetry starting at 6.

LOLA will also hold “Cookies, Music, and Art” during the Three Bear Sled Dog Races on Saturday February 3rd, with a cookie baking contest, art project, and live music performance. And March Youth Art Month, with local school childrens art framed and on display in the gallery, with a Saturday March 16th reception from 10am-2pm.

“We are really focusing on offering a wide range of affordable classes; baking, crafting, mosaic, and fine art variety, and hoping to bring together people through creating. Our classes and art groups have been such a positive way for people to make connections and friendships, and getting to learn a new skill or make something beautiful in the meantime is so satisfying,” McCall Hocking, LOLA marketing. “It’s also great to bring wonderful events to Land O’ Lakes that focus on the arts, bringing enrichment to the community.”
