We are so pleased to be bringing you our winter programming for 2024. Embrace the coziness of the season with us; take classes, attend events, or work collaboratively on our community art project. The winter season in northern Wisconsin can be a long and lonely one, but we are here to provide art opportunities sure to warm your soul. From folk art to fine art, we’ve got a class for everyone.
We’ve also got plenty of activities, art groups, and events for all ages. Some of our regular fantastic events and some new ones. Scroll down to see what is in store!
Folk to Fine Art
Sourdough Bread, Spoon Carving, Rug Hooking, Stained Glass, Oil Painting, OH MY! A little bit of everything to try. Click here to go to our classes page.

We are thrilled to bring a collaborative weaving project to the gallery room this winter. It is inter-generational project and everyone is encouraged to participate. This large loom will be installed and we will have fabric scraps available (or feel free to bring ones of your own!) for weaving, which can be done during any of our events, art groups, Open Mics, Youth Art Month, or even a break between classes. We are excited to see how this project grows for the duration of winter.
Support LOLA with a fantastic night of fun!
Join us at the Bear Trap Inn on Tuesday January 9th from 5-7pm for an evening of entertainment by Dana Joel Nicholson, performing Billy Joel and Elton John’s biggest hits, along with some really great raffles, delicious food, and some serious fun. Click here for more information.
Free Art Groups to find friends and like-minded creators
We have three totally free art groups that will run during this winter season. Whether you like watercolor, or fiber, or beading, join any of our groups. We provide coffee and snacks so you can sit back and enjoy creating around others. We even have some materials to get your started if you are looking to get into something new. Click here to go to our Art Groups page.
Sponsored by King Arthur Flour, this is a free to enter event, with prizes for the top three in both the adult and youth divisions. For full details and rules, click here. And be sure to join us in the LOLA gallery room on Saturday February 3rd for “Cookies, Music, and Art”, where, after judging, we share the spoils of the cookie contest with everyone, alongside a cool art project for kids and adults alike.
What’s better than cookies and music and art?
Land O’ Lakes hosts the amazing Three Bear Sled Dog races every year in the first weekend of February. Mushers from all over the country come to race their dogs, with activities throughout the day. LOLA will be a stop on the wagon ride on Saturday February 3rd from 11am-2pm (or come park in our back parking lot). Stop in for free cookies, live music performances from Kate Royce at 11:30am and 1:30pm, and create a fun sled dog screen print. Free and open to the public.
Have you always wanted to try out mosaics, but weren’t sure where to start? Or didn’t want to commit to buying lots of different glass colors? We have got the workshop for you! Mosaic Mondays will be offered during the month of February only (for now!) as a mix of class and drop-in from 10am-2pm. Led by local artist Sharon Molinaro, choose your design and be guided through the steps the whole way. Come to one day or all four, during whatever hours you can, depending on how long it takes to finish your project. Enjoy puzzling together broken glass into a beautiful project, and create some community with fellow artists. Click here for more info.
A Community Arts Event favorite. Come to the LOLA gallery March 11th-22nd, Mon-Fri 10am-3pm, to view the Youth Art Month exhibit. With artwork from Land O’ Lakes Elementary, SOAR Charter Middle, Watersmeet K12, and LOLA Homeschool, the creativity and beauty is always astounding. And be sure to join us on Saturday March 16th for an Open House Reception from 10am-2pm, with some tasty treats and a kids craft. Click here for more info.
Our Winter Brochure ‘24 can be picked up at LOLA, the LOL Chamber, the ER Chamber, or Charlie’s Market.
Thanks to the WI Arts Board, NEA, and NAC for their support, with in part this winter 2024 programming is made possible.
