LOLA Arts is ecstatic to announce they’ve been awarded a Creation Presentation Program Grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board. CPP grants provide artistic program support to established nonprofit arts organizations who create or present ongoing arts programming that makes a significant local or regional impact. The $3060 grant helped offset costs for LOLAs summer Community Arts Event, LOLA Sound Garden.
Sound Garden is an outdoor, site specific, immersive sound installation curated by Minneapolis musician and artist JG Everest. He creates these sound installations in various places throughout North America; this was the third year in a row held with LOLA in Land O’ Lakes. Over 80 hidden speakers dotted the walking trails by the town pavilion and park, creating a peaceful and tranquil environment where sound marries nature as participants walk through.
LOLA has added free arts workshops before the Sound Garden exhibit, with community members participating in painting, photography, music, and poetry, with the resulting works added into the exhibition. All of these workshops were free and open to the public, with 35 people participating in them. The LOLA Sound Garden exhibit saw over 220 people walk through. This event provides opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together and celebrate the arts, inspire creativity, and foster a sense of community pride. LOLA Sound Garden helps create a more vibrant and engaging place for everyone to enjoy.
LOLA would like to sincerely thank the Wisconsin Arts Board for their continued support in local arts. (And happy 50th birthday!)
