Cindy Pesek is a retired music teacher and hair stylist.  Prior to her retirement, Cindy had a private piano studio in Illinois for 35 years, teaching piano and voice to children and adults.  She was also an independent hair and make-up artist in the St. Charles, Illinois area for over 10 years.  She was Music Teacher and Liturgical Music Director for St. Patrick Catholic School (K-8) in St. Charles,  Director/Owner of Sunshine Generation, a children’s performing group from 1986-1992, Director/Owner of Cantabile, a girl’s choir from 1997 – 2002.  After moving to the northwoods full time, Cindy was substitute teacher in Watersmeet School District from 2003 – 2012, where she also founded the Bright Side After School Enrichment program.  Cindy and her husband Chuck live in Watersmeet, MI.  Her interests include, her grandchildren, the piano, guitar, ukulele, travel, quilting, reading, knitting, crochet, beading and face-painting.  Cindy is also on the Board of Directors for LOLA.

John Oliver  and his wife Alison are no strangers to the Northwoods.  The couple have been enjoying the area almost as long as they have been married; 27 years in November.  The Olivers are lovers of the outdoors, and established their north woods getaway in 2006, just east of Watersmeet.  This became the couple’s haven for snowmobiling, hiking, fishing, canoe/kayak, waterfalls, camping and sharing happy times with family and friends.  John is an avid snowmobiler, organizing many snowmobile club rides to the area staying at local establishments including the Sunrise Lodge, Bel Air Motel, and the Gateway Lodge since the mid-90s.  Recently John and Alison were able to find their retirement home on Thousand Island Lake and are pleased to now be full—time residents.

“I have a musical passion for the guitar,” said John, “I have played ‘at’ the guitar most of my life and started taking lessons seriously about 5 years ago participating in adult acoustic and electric guitar classes,” said John.

The couple recently began looking to meet people in the Northwoods community that might be interested in playing music together.  “To find people where I might fit in,” said John. “I am overjoyed to have met so many wonderful and talented people through the Lando Center and LOLA.  Each of them have made me feel so welcome and at home, that I will be able to reignite my music endeavors in shared company.  I feel strongly this is also a personal opportunity to contribute and grow the musical talent in our community,” John stated.
