Happy BEARday! Public Art Installation

Help the town of Land o’ lakes, lola & the public art committee inaugurate our 1st public art piece.

we will celebrate bears and the installation of the rustic metal bear sculpture called “bruno”.  this artwork is located at the intersection of County road b & county road s – on the bike path, at the bike rest stop.

Saturday, July 7 – Happy BEARday! Schedule of Events:

10:00 – Noon – Held at the LOLA Art Center.                                                                                                        Free art project for the young and the young at heart.  Create your own personal bear hat to wear out at the site and tip your hat “hello” to Land O’ Lake’s newest critter.  FREE, drop-in.  All ages.

1:00 – 3:00  – Intersection of County Rd. B & S, bike path,  bike shelter on the north side of the road.                                                                                                                                                                       Join in as we welcome our new bear friend to town.  LOLA’s expert baker will have treats on hand and there may be other surprises from LOLA’s arty crew.  FREE.

This piece of art has been generously donated by Joe & Nancy Braucher.  “Bruno” is a 653 lb. steel bear created by artist, Doug Weigel.  Doug lives and works in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  he designs and produces two and three-dimensional sculptures and furniture in steel and other metals.  Inspired by Native American petro glyphs, western art and natural forms, Doug’s unique art is expressed in a contemporary way.    Doug’s work has been accepted by three presidents and has been commissioned for the Central Avenue Project in Phoenix, the Petrified National Forest, the Scottsdale Airport, the Petro glyph National Monument and is in numerous galleries.  He is represented by Wilde Meyer Gallery of Arizona.
