Join the worldwide celebration of music on June 21!
Make Music is a free celebration of music around the world on June 21st. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 800 cities in 120 countries.
Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public. Learn more at http://www.makemusicday.org/ .
On this day of musical celebration, all are welcome to come play our keyboard out front of the LOLA building, listen to the various buskers in town, and watch for band performances in other locations.
Join us at…
9:45 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. outside the Gateway Lodge for music and dancing with Gloria Andersen and the LOLA Stateliners!
10:00 a.m. – in Downtown Land O’ Lakes for various musicians performing around town.
3:00 p.m. for Sound Suit Performance outside LOLA – LOLA students will give a short performance using Sounds Suits they created, inspired by artist Nick Cave.
4:00 p.m. at Ely Memorial Church for a Hymn Sing. Enjoy listening to the ELy Memorial Church Choir and Men’s Choir, then join in for a public sing-a-long! (Ely Memorial Church is located on Hwy B in Land O’ Lakes, just down the street from LOLA.)
7:00 p.m. for a special Giant Jam Porch Songs Performance on the LOLA Porch.
Watch for more musical happenings to be added to the day’s offerings in the coming weeks!
Are you a musician? Would you like to be a part of LOLA’s World Make Music Day Celebration? We are looking for a few more musicians to perform around town during the day. For more information, give us a call at 715-547-3950 and join in the celebration!
