CELEBRATE NATIONAL GARLIC DAY!

National Garlic Day is observed annually on April 19 which celebrates this versatile vegetable also known as “The Stinking Rose”.  Celebrate National Garlic Day with basket weaving instructor, Dianne Mockler, as she guides you through on how to weave a garlic basket.  Take home a completed basket, ready for gift giving or to hang in your kitchen.

You will learn traditional basket weaving techniques such as laying out a base, weaving up the sides and creating a simple braided rim. Woven in free form style, each basket will be unique.

Basket Size: Approximately 3 inches in diameter and 4 inches tall.

Instructor Bio:  Dianne is a basket weaver and fiber artist who began weaving in 1996 and soon after shared her enthusiasm for the craft by teaching others to weave. She enjoys working with a variety of materials, and is especially interested in weaving baskets with a Northwoods theme, or natural materials such as birch bark, willow, pine needles and antlers. Her great great grandfather owned a knitting mill in Milwaukee in the late19th century; she believes she is honoring her heritage by incorporating wool and other fibers into baskets, as well as using wet felting and needle felting techniques to create basket embellishments.

All proceeds from this class will go directly towards LOLA Arts programming efforts.  The class instructor will be donating their time, materials and talents to teach students.
