We will use watercolor as the primary base for creating our design/composition. Pan Pastel, Inktense blocks, and other materials, will be available to allow you to enhance, correct and push the boundaries of this traditional medium. Stencils will also be available to create texture and pattern. This workshop will give participants an opportunity to experiment, explore and push their creative selves to new levels.

Working primarily in watercolor and other watermedia, Karen has won numerous awards in regional and national competitions. Her work is shown in galleries in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and can be viewed on her website at karenlenhart.com.   Karen currently serves as Board President for Artistree Gallery, a 32 member cooperative in Land O’ Lakes, Wisconsin. In addition, she served 8 years on the Board of Directors for Land O’ Lakes Arts, a 501(c)3 organization and creative campus in the Northwoods (lolaartswi.com).

Karen is a member of the Wisconsin and Michigan Watercolor Societies, Red River Watercolor Society, Watercolor West and an associate member of the National Watercolor Society.

Registration/payment deadline Sept. 22 – No refunds will be given after deadline.  Parking is available behind the LOLA Center for the Arts Building.

Materials List:

Reference Material – subjects you love to paint and are familiar with

An “old dog” painting /s – paintings you are not happy with that can be transformed

Watercolor paints – including Winsor Newton Permanent White Gauche

Brushes – variety of sizes

Paper – 140 or 300 lb. cold press (we will work on ¼ sheets)

Pallet, water container, tissue, paper towels, etc. – normal supplies

Small glass jelly jar – with short sides

Small foam roller or make-up sponges

Bring a bag lunch and smock or apron
