Small Bowl Carving 2 Day – Workshop

January 30 – 31, 2025

9:00 – 4:00 both days

Fee: $180

Ages 15 and up.

Create your very own small bowl using traditional green wood carving techniques.  This class is for beginners.

During the class we will use gouges and hook knives to hollow out a green wood bowl.  After removing the interior we will use axes, drawknives and carving knives to trim material off the outside and make our finish cuts.

Blocks of green wood will be provided for you to layout and carve your bowls.  These bowls will be about 6-8 inches in diameter and about 4 inches tall.

Topics we will cover include knife and axe safety and techniques, bowl design and layout, how to properly dry your bowl  and ways to clamp and hold you bowls as you work.

All tools and materials will be supplied. If you have your own tools, bring a carving knife and any other carving tools.  Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting full of wood chips and closed-toed shoes. An hour lunch break will be planned each day.

  • If you would like to pay with cash or check, please call LOLA Arts at (715) 547-3950 to reserve your spot in class. Your spot is not guaranteed until we receive payment.
  • If a class is canceled a full refund will be issued.
  • Refunds will not be issued after the registration date closes.
  • Beginning January 1, 2024, students who request a refund prior to the registration deadline will be given the option of receiving the full amount in the form of a gift certificate for future classes OR a refund for the balance minus a $5.00 service fee.
