LOLA Arts is pleased to be once again offering art and music classes for homeschooled students K-12. Thanks to the generosity of many donors, we are able to keep the cost of these classes low. We will offer three different age groups with overlapping age recommendations to be as flexible for families as possible. Please reach out with any questions.
We will again have two “lounge” areas with complimentary coffee and tea set up with Wi-Fi access for you to use while your child/ren are taking classes. One will have tables and chairs and the other comfy leather sofas.

Elementary Art and Music
6 – 9 yr olds – 9:45am-11am $50 per student
Art – Hands on fun as students will create art and crafts projects, based off books and seasonal activities, developing skills while drawing, glueing, using scissors, and being creative. 9:45am-10:30am
Music – In this interactive music class, students will develop music listening skills, learn several simple rhythmic patterns, and begin learning ensemble skills, while using the LOLA musical instruments. 10:30am – 11:00am
Middle Art and Music
8 – 13 yr olds – 10am-11:30am $50 per student
Music – In this interactive music class, students will continue to buid ensemble playing skills, music listening skills, learn more complex rhythm patterns and begin to read notation. 10:00am – 10:30am
Art – Students will learn art elements and principles through a variety of 2D projects and mediums. 10:30am – 11:30am
Upper Art and Music
Ages 12+ 11:00am-2pm $50 per student
Music – In this free-flowing interactive music class, students will gather together to jam weekly, exploring a variety of musical genres such as classical, jazz, pop/rock, folk, musical, and country. Students may bring their own instrument (voice, guitar, ukulele, string, band or percussion instruments) or use the LOLA instruments. Listening and music history will be included in each session. 11:00am – 11:45am
Art – Students will create works of art through projects, using a variety of mediums and mixed-media. Students will use creativity and expression while learning elements of art and design. 12pm – 2pm.
Instructor’s Bio
Cathy Palmer – Elementary and Middle School Art
I came to the Land O Lakes area in 2005 to join the staff at Conserve School, where I served through the years as the Summer Program Director, the Outdoor Programs Director and the Director of Student Life. Prior to my career at Conserve School I had a 20 + year career as a Resident Camp Director at several camps in Wisconsin. My interests include all things outdoors, hiking, biking, canoeing and gardening. I dabble in the arts – watercolor, fiber art and all sorts of crafts. I was the long term substitute teacher for the Land O Lakes Elementary School art classes and loved every minute of it – working with youth is so rewarding!
McCall Hocking – High School Art
Marketing and Communications Coordinator McCall Hocking is passionate about bringing the magic and joy of art to people of all ages in the Northwoods. She believes in the benefits of doodling and that everyone can and should create some type of art. She is an avid oil painter, illustrator/designer who taught K-12 art in the Denver area for five years. She has a BA in Art from UW-Madison with an emphasis in ceramics and a Masters in Education from the University of Denver.
Jennifer Anderson – All music levels
Executive Director Jennifer Anderson is driven by a passion for helping people of all ages to find and further their artistic abilities. A love for music has always been a driving force in Jennifer’s life. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a specialization in Music Teacher Education from Luther College, and has taught K-12 Orchestra in both public and private schools for many years. She currently the Pit Director for Northland Pines Musicals, a Pit Musician for Lakeland High School Musicals, a violinist in the Electric String Band, and a church musician.
