MAKE A SPLASH WITH A WATERCOLOR PAINTING.
The instructor, Dale Popovich, will share his 40+ years of professional teaching, knowledge and techniques. Dale will cover how-to paint waterfalls and rapids in traditional watercolor. The main focus will be on the water flowing, the banks of the rivers, and waterfalls.
On the first day of this workshop, we will explore rapids from different rivers to understand the movement of the water on and around the rocks along the shorelines of the Northwoods. On the second day, we will dive into the waterfalls making a big splash to show how the waterfalls move over the rocks down into the river below.
Students will learn how to build a painting from start to finish while gaining a deeper understanding of the techniques, properties and tools of transparent watercolor with a focusing on large patterns of light and dark.
About the Artist – Dale L Popovich, IWS, is a watercolorist and teacher who is passionate about capturing the raw beauty of the American landscape with the fluid stroke of a brush. Spending his childhood summers in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, Dale learned to love its colors, textures, denizens, and moods – developed his holistic approach to watercolor. Today, his paintings celebrate these American landscapes and man’s humble efforts to tame it. Trained at The American Academy of Art in Chicago by Director and President, Irving Shapiro, AWS, Dale was deeply inspired by this great American twentieth-century watercolorist. Dale later taught for 22 years at The American Academy of Art. He currently teaches at the Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago.
