McCall Hocking

Marketing Communications Coordinator

After a three-year stint as a feral stay-at-home mom to two boys, McCall is excited to join the LOLA community. An avid oil painter, illustrator/designer, and former art teacher, she is passionate about bringing the magic and joy of art to people of all ages in the Northwoods. McCall grew up in a small town in southeastern Wisconsin, graduated from UW-Madison with BA in Art with an emphasis in ceramics, and moved to Denver for graduate school. After getting her K12 teaching degree, she taught for five years. She then quit her job, sold her house, and moved to the mountains where she spent her days exploring, creating art, dancin’ to bluegrass, and managing a restaurant. McCall, her husband, and son moved to the Northwoods three years ago, adding another son along the way. They spend their days in the garden, making messes, going on bike rides, making music, and building forts. McCall’s art is influenced by Bob Ross, Dr. Seuss, and Salvador Dalí, where happy little trees intersect with the whimsical and the weird. She believes in the benefits of doodling and that everyone can and should create some type of art. There is a lot of beauty in this crazy world and sharing it is vital.
