CREATE YOUR OWN BEADS USING GLASS RODS AND FIRE

No experience necessary! Learn the interesting art of flame-worked glass beads with instructor Julie Lukosaitis of Madison, WI.  This is a beginner’s class, but if there are those with experience, Julie will work with you on new techniques.

Step by step, Julie will lead the class through the creative process with discussions, provide handouts and visual demonstrations.  Students will learn about the equipment used, safety and be able to participate in the exciting process of forming glass beads.  What sets Julie apart from other bead instructors is her many years of working in public education and teaching to different learning intelligences.  She believes the best reward as a teacher is seeing the joy her students feel with their own creativity and building their flame-working skills.

OPTIONAL DAY 2 – CREATING WITH YOUR LAMPWORK BEADS

You made spectacular, one-of-a-kind glass beads Saturday, and now you’re ready to turn them into art jewelry and gift items! Take this optional half-day session to turn those fabulous beads into wearable and giftable items – right away. Julie will provide hands-on directions for assembling a variety of different pieces, and she’ll have tools to use during class time. Many jewelry findings and gemstones will be made available for an additional fee. If you bring your own chains, clasps, earring wires, finials, etc., make sure to label that stash with your name. Completion of the October 8th Glass Bead Making is a prerequisite for this optional day 2 class.

Instructors Bio Julie Lukosaitis, is owner of Bedazzled by Julz, LLC.  Bedazzzled by Julz is a mobile torch studio that travels to other art studios in Wisconsin.  “Glass in the flame, transitioning from a solid to a liquid, working against gravity, while reading the heat in the glass can be challenging, but is extremely fun!”  Julie Lukosaitis.
