The reception will begin with time to enjoy the exhibit while listening to soft piano music played by Norma Yaeger and conclude with a poetry reading by the poet and a short talk by the photographer. Light refreshments will be served.

About the Poet:  J.K. Roche is a local poet and writer from Presque Isle, WI. Judith’s primary occupation is writing and she is currently working on a novel set in the Northwoods in the 1950s. She began writing songs with an Alvarez guitar purchased from her first pay check in the United States Air Force at age 17. After her military service, Judith continued songwriting during college and while working as a high school and early childhood teacher. Many of her songs are about her daughters, family life, spiritual awareness, nature and observations on life’s bigger questions. During a period of convalescing, her songwriting evolved into poetry writing.

About the Photographer:  Mark Schermeister, an emerging fine artist, began creating photographs in the Northwoods of Wisconsin in 1965. He spent his childhood in Minnesota and his career followed a trajectory which includes a career as a photographer/lab technician, a second career as an air traffic controller and retirement from federal service. Through it all, he carried his camera, capturing and expressing what he calls “the miracle and mystery of the life we’re blessed with.” His personal purpose is to create and exhibit visual art that conveys the invisible qualities of the world around us. Mark can be found in the area capturing the natural beauty and spending time with his wife and daughters.

About the Piano Player:  Norma Yaeger has lived in Eagle River since 2001. She has a K-12 B.A. in music education and a M.A. in interdisciplinary arts. She is an active school accompanist, church and choir accompanist for two churches, piano teacher, and local volunteer.

Maximum of 10 people in the gallery at a time. Social distancing and mask required.
