Students will experience the joy of painting en Plein Air – with natural outdoor light, in the fresh air. Students will meet at the parking lot of the Headwaters of the Wisconsin River, then hike a short trail to the site on Lac Vieux Desert Lake. Using the natural surroundings as inspiration, Barbara will work in the alla- prima style of painting – wet on wet. She will also focus on composition, value, lights, shadows, and color mixing, along with learning about transparent colors vs. opaque. She will take it slow so students can absorb a little each day. If you have never painted with oils, this will be a great introduction. And, if you already have some experience, you will still learn something new!
To reach the headwaters – from State Highway 45 North (between Conover & Land O’ Lakes), turn east on Highway E. In 2.7 miles turn left on South Shore Road. A parking lot will be less than a mile down the road, on the right.
