Cathead Gift Basket

Tuesday May 7, 2024

10am-4:30pm

$70

Originally a Shaker design, a cathead basket is constructed so that when turned upside down, the four corners of the bottom look like cat ears. In this class, you’ll learn traditional basket weaving techniques: Lay out a base, create the cathead corners, weave up the gently rounded sides, then rim and lash. Choose from a variety of colors for the optional bow fashioned from dyed reed. You’ll leave class with a completed basket that can be used for everything from trinkets to truffles.

All materials and use of the instructor’s tools are included. Beginners are welcome!

Approximate Size: 6 inches x 8 inches x 4 inches high.

Wear clothes that can get a bit wet, and bring a bag lunch and an old towel.
