Paint your own version of this Monarch using your imagination. Each student will receive a 10 x 12 wood plaque (w/hanger) that has the wood-burned image ready for paint.  Sue will demonstrate paint application, brush strokes, color mixing and simple shading to complete a painting.  According to Sue, “Even though each person has the same image to work from as a guide, all the paintings turn out so very different.  Students are choosing colors they like and using strong or soft brush strokes to give it personality, each plaque will be unique to the person painting it.”

Sue owns Blossoms Studio in Land O’ Lakes, WI, which she opened in 2013 after relocating from Illinois. Working in acrylic paint, she paints and wood burns on found objects or new wood, all with a northwoods theme. She especially loves to find old barn wood and antique furniture as surfaces for her work. Sue is on the Northwoods Art Tour in July & October, sells her work at Moondeer & Friends Gallery in Boulder Junction, and a Stone’s Throw Gallery in Bayfiled, WI. She also does special orders and custom signs. Sue graduated from UW-Madison in 1979 with a major in art. According to Sue, “I have been painting since I was a child, and continually dragged old ‘stuff’ home. My work is fun and functional.”

No refunds will be given after the deadline date.

Parking is available behind the LOLA Center for the Arts building.

If area school districts close due to weather on the day of a LOLA class, LOLA classes will be canceled for the safety of our students and teachers.  In such an event, LOLA will make all attempts to contact students and rescheduled classes for a later date.
