All levels are welcome, but if you are an “absolute” beginner, please contact Jane prior to class.

Mornings will include “how-to” demonstrations using great watercolor Master Artist techniques as inspiration.  These demos are hands-on and you’ll be able to apply them immediately!

Other key watercolor techniques include transparent washes, color mixing, avoiding “mud” and getting clean, fresh, color, loose brush work, and great composition. You’ll make your art personal and enjoy the journey.  Afternoons are for your own quiet painting time, with one-on-one guidance from Jane, at your own pace. Each afternoon session ends with an inspirational or instructional DVD.   Jane is skilled at uncovering and playing to your strengths.

A note from Jane to returning students: This workshop includes some new material. Do come back to continue to develop your own creative style with Jane as your guide. You’ll also have fun and enjoy the camaraderie of kindred spirits.

About the Instructor: Jane Barnard is a skilled and supportive teacher, a member of the Wisconsin Watercolor Society, Wisconsin Visual Artists and Wisconsin Plein Air Painters. She has a master’s degree from Marquette University. Her studies have included the University of Paris (Sorbonne), the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and workshops from master watercolorists. Jane is a passionate painter and teacher, especially gentle and helpful in encouraging those wanting to stretch their artistic vision and skills. In addition to The Clearing, she has taught popular classes at Dillmans, Land O’Lakes Art Center, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Continuing Education program, the Northeast Wisconsin Watercolor Society from her studio in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
